Heedlessness wastes life and hardens hearts
“Heedlessness is a calamity that wastes our lives, time, effort, and hardens the heart.”
Heedlessness, forgetting Allah, accountability, and life's purpose, wastes time, hardens the heart, and is resisted through remembrance, righteous company, prayer, knowledge, repentance, and self-accountability.

In the khateeb's words
“heedlessness Is a calamity That wastes our lives Time Effort And hardens the heart”
“So always look at The ones beneath you For you to be grateful For the blessings Of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala”
“That your tongue should always remain wet from the dhikr of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala”
For the dinner table
The khateeb reminded us that heedlessness means losing sight of Allah, our purpose, and our accountability to Him. Through the story of Hanzala, he explained that our spiritual feelings can change during everyday life, but that does not give us permission to sin. He encouraged us to value our health and time, choose companions who help us remember Allah, and appreciate the blessings we already have. He pointed to Quran, learning, dhikr, dua, gatherings of remembrance, and regular prayer in congregation as ways to keep our hearts attentive. As a family, we can encourage one another to remember Allah throughout the day, ask for His help, and return to Him when we fall short.
- What blessing did you notice today that you usually take for granted?
- How could we help each other remember Allah during an ordinary school or work day?
