For the dinner table

The sermon teaches that purifying the nafs, or inner self, is one of life's greatest tests. We should begin by asking Allah for help, then remove sins, pride, jealousy, anger, and other heart diseases. After that, we fill the heart with Quran, remembrance, prayer, charity, good character, and strong family ties. We should watch what enters through our eyes, ears, tongues, and thoughts, and ask trusted people for honest advice. Remembering death and standing before Allah can help us resist harmful desires while we still have time to change.

  1. What is one thing you can put into your heart through your eyes, ears, or words?
