Allah places a path within hardship

“We often judge a chapter while Allah is writing the entire story.”

The khateeb, at 15:16

In one sentence

When Muslims face hardship, Allah may not remove the difficulty immediately but places a path, growth, or opportunity within it, so believers should trust Him and take faithful human action.

For the dinner table

The khutbah teaches that Allah does not always remove a hardship; He may open a path within it. The stories of Musa, Ibrahim, Nuh, Maryam, and Yusuf show people taking faithful action while Allah brings relief in ways they could not yet see. Hardship can also deepen our dua, patience, prayer, forgiveness, and reliance on Allah. We should not judge one painful chapter before the whole story is known, and we should keep making effort. The speaker also reminded Muslims, especially after 9/11, to be good citizens, good neighbors, and helpers to humanity.

  1. What is one difficulty that might contain an opportunity you cannot see yet?
  2. What human effort can you make this week in a situation that feels stuck?
  3. How can our family become softer, more forgiving, and more helpful to others?
