For the dinner table

The khateeb opened by honoring the women of Gaza and describing their suffering, dignity, and efforts to care for their families. He reminded us that our daily choices can help protect our souls or lead us toward harm. He spoke about substance abuse and the pain it has brought to families, praying for relief and ease for those affected. He urged us to look honestly at our desires and struggles, and to make this conversation about the heart and soul as well as what is permissible or prohibited. As a family, we can reflect on our choices and consider how to nourish our souls just as we care for our bodies.

  1. What is one choice this week that helped you care for your heart?
  2. When something popular pulls you away from what you believe is right, what helps you choose?
  3. What could our family do together this week to nourish our souls?
