For the dinner table

Ramadan is not meant to be filled mainly with worldly pursuits; it is a precious season to seek Allah's pleasure, forgiveness, and protection from the Fire. Laylat al-Qadr is honored because the Qur'an was sent down in it, so we should seek more than the night's special status. We should let our recitation enter and remain in our hearts until it changes our character and conduct. The khutbah points to the Prophet as the example of a life shaped by the Qur'an. In practice, we can fast, pray at night, recite Qur'an regularly, and ask Allah to bless the month.
