Repentance & taqwaFrom the masjid's own video, Jul 25, 2026.
Ask Allah for help and fear no one
In one sentence
Be mindful of Allah in every word and action and He will protect you, so in these confusing times ask only Allah for help and fear no one but Him, since the whole world can neither benefit nor harm you except by His will.
The khutbah in 8 steps
- Arabic opening: adhan, khutbah formula, and the standard three Quranic taqwa verses
- Hadith of Abdullah ibn Umar: 'what a good man, if only he would pray qiyam al-layl', take the Prophet's lesson and act on it immediately
- Core hadith to the child Abdullah ibn Abbas: 'O young man, I will teach you words, be mindful of Allah and He will protect you'
- Application: we live in confusing times where right looks wrong and Islam is cast as the enemy; mindfulness of Allah protects the heart and keeps one from haram
- Story of Musa at the sea: 'My Lord is with me, He will guide me', certainty when trapped
- If you ask, ask Allah; if you seek help, seek it from Allah; end-times sign of the truthful belied and the liar believed
- If all humanity gathered to help or harm you they could not except by Allah's will, a lesson in faith, perseverance, and ripping fear from the heart
- Second khutbah: Ibn Abbas grew into a great scholar by living this hadith; closing duas for guidance, protection from fitnah, and victory for the oppressed
