The khutbah reminds us that a person's character becomes visible when life brings hardship, temptation, poverty, or wealth. People of taqwa keep their iman steady, exercise self-control, and remember that this life is a step toward the next. Using the expedition to Tabuk, the khateeb described people who made excuses or stayed back despite having the means, while those who were genuinely sick, weak, or without resources were not blamed. He also praised people who gave whatever little they had and those who stood firm for the right cause. The lesson for us is to support good sincerely, avoid harming the community, and return to Allah in repentance when we fall short.

  1. When life feels hard, what helps you stay steady?
  2. What is one small helpful thing you could give or do this week?
  3. How can we recognize an honest limitation while still being kind?
