For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that Allah’s mercy surrounds us in blessings such as faith, family, food, health, and shelter. The imam encouraged us to notice these gifts and remember that Allah is the most merciful and compassionate. He shared how the prophets asked Allah for mercy, including Musa’s prayer for himself and his brother. When we make mistakes, we should keep hoping in Allah’s mercy, ask for forgiveness, and repent sincerely. Our lives are a test, and we have a part to play by choosing good deeds while asking Allah for His help and blessings.

  1. What blessing did you enjoy today that you might usually forget to thank Allah for?
  2. Who would you like to include in your du‘a tonight, and what would you ask for them?
  3. What good deed could you choose tomorrow as part of the test the imam described?
