For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah invited us to learn from Ibrahim’s whole journey, including the steps before his great sacrifice. The khateeb reminded us to speak in ways our listeners can understand and to turn good intentions into action while trusting Allah to guide us. He described a spiritual migration that each of us can make: leaving what displeases Allah and moving toward obedience. Ibrahim’s prayer for a righteous child also opened lessons about caring for family and practicing patience and forgiveness when we have the power to respond. The khutbah ended by encouraging parents to give children their full attention, share in their interests, and teach through their own example.
