Muslims should lead through knowledge
“Muslims should be leaders in learning about information, data, analytics.”
Allah’s universal mercy and Quranic guidance call Muslims to develop excellence, knowledge, and collective action for the benefit of humanity.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Introduces Allah as ar-Rahman, whose mercy reaches every created being without prerequisite.
- Explains Surah al-Rahman’s sequence of mercy, teaching the Quran, and creating humans in an excellent mode.
- Frames human excellence as humility, repentance, correction, and submission rather than flawlessness.
- Connects resilient perseverance with learning from history while preparing the world for future generations.
- Urges Muslims to lead in information, data science, AI, engineering, and systems that improve society.
- Closes by urging gratitude, collective service, continued learning, and participation in community opportunities.
In the khateeb's words
“All you have to do is be born and Allah gives you of His mercy.”
“We shouldn't be in the same place today that we were yesterday. And we shouldn't be in the same place tomorrow that we are today.”
“Muslims should be leaders in learning about information, data, analytics.”
“Best of you are those who are most beneficial to society.”
For the dinner table
Allah’s mercy reaches every person and every part of creation, even before we have done anything. The Quran teaches us how to live in harmony with that order and calls human beings to excellence, not perfection without mistakes. When we make mistakes, we should turn back to Allah, learn, and keep moving forward with patience and perseverance. The khateeb urged Muslims to study the Quran alongside science, technology, data, and AI so we can build useful systems and improve our communities and the wider world. We should remember our heritage, work together, and use Allah’s favors with gratitude for future generations.
- How can we show gratitude for Allah’s mercy this week?
- How could our family become more beneficial to others?
