This khutbah teaches that Allah cares about the condition of our hearts, not only what people see. Our hearts can move between faith, doubt, fear, and strong emotion, so we should keep returning to Allah, studying His Book and the Prophet's example, and asking Him to make us firm. We should also look honestly at hidden intentions such as envy or resentment and work on better character with our families. The stories of Musa's mother and the Prophet's mercy at Ta'if remind us that difficult feelings do not have to lead us away from trust, patience, and mercy.
