Trust Allah through fear and trials
“When we believe in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, when we believe that He is with us, do not worry about the how.”
When believers face fear, hostility, and personal trials, they should trust Allah, respond with patience and humility, and continue doing good while relying on His help.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Challenges mockery of Islam and urges Muslims to embody prophetic teachings through their actions.
- Explains Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakil as wholehearted trust in Allah despite hostile powers.
- Calls for humility and peaceful responses when ignorant people provoke believers.
- Uses the examples of Yunus, Nuh, and Musa to show Allah's help in impossible situations.
- Applies Quranic teachings about tests, patience, taqwa, and ihsan to present hardships.
- Closes with supplications for forgiveness, relief, healing, steadfast families, and strength in faith.
In the khateeb's words
“Ya ikhwan, the only way to salvation is to connect with our Creator. It's for our hearts to connect with our Creator.”
“So when we believe in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, when we believe that He is with us, do not worry about the how. Allah will find a solution and He will make a solution.”
“Just have taqwa, have fear of Allah, be conscious of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and be a muhsin who is a good person, constantly doing good.”
For the dinner table
This khutbah reminds us that fear does not have the final word when we trust Allah. Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakil means that Allah is enough for us and the best One to rely on, while we still take the proper means. The speaker points to Yunus, Nuh, and Musa, who called on Allah in frightening situations and were helped. We are encouraged to meet tests with patience and taqwa, answer ignorance with peace and humility, and keep doing good. Our family can turn to Allah, support one another, and stay hopeful when life feels uncertain.
- When have you needed to trust Allah without knowing how things would work out?
- What is one peaceful response we can choose when someone acts ignorantly?
- What good deed could we do this week as a muhsin?
