Allah's guidance protects every part of life
“No matter how many steps in your life you took away from Allah, it only ever takes one step to come back.”
Allah calls believers to a life-giving path of worship, moral goodness, and protection from Shaytan's harms in this life and the next.
The khutbah in 7 steps
- Allah's call brings life through worship, justice, grace, family ties, and goodness.
- Shaytan is humanity's enemy and calls people toward immorality, wickedness, and ruin.
- The first objectives are preserving religion through worship and preserving life through honoring and protecting people.
- Preserving the mind requires beneficial knowledge and avoiding intoxicants, addictions, and useless distractions.
- Preserving family means building peaceful homes, treating relatives excellently, and leaving forbidden relationships.
- Preserving wealth means earning lawfully, acting fairly, sharing generously, and rejecting theft and greed.
- Shaytan's plot is weak, so believers should seek Allah's protection, repent, remain grateful, and make dua.
In the khateeb's words
“The invitation of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is entirely one that is meant to bring life to your hearts bring life to your families bring life to your societies and grant you everlasting life in jannat al-firdaus in the akhira”
“when you say there is no god you break away all the idols and the false gods none of these rule me I am not slave to any of them”
“stay away from anything that addicts you these addictions are not worth it they leave you hollow they leave you empty and they can hurt you”
“no matter how many steps in your life you took away from Allah it only ever takes one step to come back do not forget that”
For the dinner table
The khutbah teaches that Allah's guidance gives life to our hearts, families, communities, and afterlife. It explains five goals Islam protects: faith, life, mind, family, and wealth. We should worship Allah alone, protect people and ourselves, avoid addictive substances and harmful behavior, seek useful knowledge, care for our families, and earn and share wealth honestly. When Shaytan tempts us, we should not despair: sincere repentance can bring us back, and seeking refuge in Allah weakens the devil's plot. We can live this message through gratitude, dua for people who are ill or oppressed, and kindness in our homes.
- What is one habit that helps protect your mind and bring you closer to Allah?
- How can we show our family the very best of ourselves this week?
- What can we do when we feel far from Allah?
