Hope in Allah through dark times
“The hardest person to beat in this world is the one who won't quit.”
In a world of darkness and oppression, Muslims must hope in Allah, share His guidance, focus on their own deeds, and persist without despair.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Defines darkness as many paths of ignorance, oppression, wrongdoing, and evil, contrasted with Islam as the one light.
- Urges Muslims not to despair, but to ask why darkness persists and spread truth and guidance.
- Calls listeners away from social-media drama, gossip, and other people's affairs toward personal accountability and a lasting good legacy.
- Explains that Shaytan targets believers through small distractions while Allah promises believers strength, security, and eventual success.
- Presents hope as steadfastness: Muslims must refuse to quit and rely on Allah rather than political powers.
- Closes by urging personal effort, helpfulness, avoidance of gossip, prophetic example, and trust in Allah's aid.
In the khateeb's words
“we are people of hope we are people of hope the muslims are not ones who should ever succumb to the darkness”
“i want to leave this world with that light that Allah gave me empty because i gave it to others”
“the hardest person to beat in this world is the one who won't quit”
“focus on what you personally can do and do it and Allah will aid you”
For the dinner table
The khutbah says our world contains many kinds of darkness, including ignorance, oppression, wrongdoing, and evil, but Allah’s light is one: guidance through Islam. Muslims should not let difficult news or personal struggles make them despair, because hope in Allah gives strength to keep standing. Instead of getting lost in gossip, social-media drama, or other people’s lives, we should focus on our own deeds, help where we can, and share the good Allah has given us. Shaytan may distract believers through small things, so we should guard our prayer and attention. Our job is to keep working, follow the Prophet’s example, and trust that Allah alone gives true success.
- What is one good thing Allah has given you that you could share this week?
- What small distraction makes it hardest for you to focus during prayer?
- What is one piece of personal work you can do instead of getting pulled into gossip?
