Repentance & taqwaFrom the masjid's own video, Dec 1, 2023.

Daily self review helps believers change

“Unless we make moves, unless we intend and make physical moves, it is not possible that we can be righteous.”

The khateeb, at 28:10

Because this life allows self-correction while the Hereafter does not, believers should practice daily muhasibah, gratitude, taqwa, and righteous companionship now.

For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that this life is a test and that our choices will be shown on the Day of Judgment. Allah is merciful, and He gives us time to notice our mistakes and correct them before it is too late. We can begin by thanking Allah each morning for blessings such as life, health, shelter, food, and family, then reviewing our day each evening. Jumu’ah can become a weekly moment to reflect, learn one lesson, and practice it. Finally, good companions and meaningful changes in our surroundings can help us leave sin and move toward righteousness.

  1. What are five blessings you noticed today?
  2. What is one change that could make next week better?
  3. Who helps remind you to pray, speak kindly, or remember Allah?
