Repentance & taqwaFrom the masjid's own video, Sep 25, 2026.

Repent now before death comes

“Don't wait for the next Jumu'ah to make tawbah.”

The khateeb, at 20:47

In one sentence

Because death may come at any time, believers should cultivate taqwa, repent immediately, and use their life, time, wealth, and knowledge responsibly before final accountability.

The khutbah in 7 steps

  1. The speaker urges gratitude for health and the opportunity to attend Jumu'ah, while remembering the sick and deceased.
  2. He presents taqwa as awareness that Allah is always watching and as the driving force toward obedience and Paradise.
  3. He explains that “tomorrow” means accountability, warning that death may begin a person's personal reckoning at any moment.
  4. He traces spiritual decline from sinful environments and delayed repentance to desensitization, doubt, and false worldly desires.
  5. He urges immediate daily tawbah rather than postponing it until the next Jumu'ah, Ramadan, Umrah, Hajj, or retirement.
  6. He presents waking each morning as a renewed chance, encouraging the sleep and waking duas, remembrance, and sadaqah.
  7. He closes by stressing accountability for life, youth, wealth, and knowledge, and prays for a good ending and entry into Jannah.

For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that taqwa means remembering that Allah is watching us and letting that awareness guide our choices. We all make mistakes, but he encouraged us to turn back to Allah promptly instead of delaying repentance and becoming used to harmful habits. Every morning we wake up is another chance to thank Allah and do good. Our time, health, money, and knowledge are trusts from Allah, and we will be asked how we used them. As a family, we can help one another make each day meaningful through gratitude, repentance, and acting on what we know.

  1. What is one way you could thank Allah for a new day tomorrow morning?
  2. What helps you make a good choice when nobody else is watching?
  3. What is one good thing you have learned that you could practise this week?
