Preserve Islam through knowledge and action
“Knowledge without action is useless and action without knowledge is dangerous.”
Islam is Allah’s greatest blessing and a responsibility preserved through knowledge, action, following the Prophet’s character, and sharing the faith with wisdom.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Islam is the greatest blessing and guidance, but Muslims must actively preserve it.
- Faith requires both knowledge and action grounded in the Quran and Sunnah.
- Believers should be pleased with Allah, follow Prophet Muhammad’s character, and hold firmly to Islam.
- Muslims should share Islam through righteous deeds, wisdom, gentleness, and good character.
- Every Muslim can participate in dawah through everyday conduct, while leaving results to Allah.
- Listeners are encouraged to support the mosque’s outreach efforts financially and materially.
In the khateeb's words
“it is not an inheritance that it will come to us and stay with us whether you care for it or not you have to make effort to preserve it”
“knowledge without action is useless and action without knowledge is dangerous”
“if your character does not mash your words then we may be pushing people further from Islam instead of bringing them closer to Islam”
For the dinner table
The khateeb reminded us that Islam is a precious blessing, and we need to care for our faith with effort. He encouraged us to learn from the Quran and the Prophet Muhammad’s life, then put that learning into practice. He called us to be pleased with Allah as our Lord, follow the Prophet’s character, and be proud of Islam as our way of life. We can share our faith through honesty, kindness, patience, and gentle words in everyday situations. He reminded us that our responsibility is to convey the message while leaving the results to Allah, and encouraged everyone to support the masjid’s outreach according to their ability.
- What is one thing you have learned about Islam that you could practice this week?
- How could you show someone that you are trustworthy at school or at home?
- What could you say gently to someone who has a question about Islam?
