For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah centered on the Prophet Muhammad’s advice to the young Ibn Abbas: protect Allah’s commands, and Allah will protect you. That means praying, choosing halal, guarding our words and bodies, treating parents and neighbors well, and returning to Allah when we make mistakes. We were encouraged to ask Allah first, trust that no one can help or harm us outside His decree, and still take the first practical step toward our goals. The khateeb also reminded us to notice the strengths of young people and teach them faith early.

  1. What is one thing you can ask Allah for first this week?
  2. How can our family take a first step toward a good goal?
  3. What strength do young people bring to our community?
