Put Quranic guidance into daily practice
“Sincerely repent to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.”
The khutbah urges listeners to turn Quranic guidance into sincere daily practice, especially prayer, zakat, honesty, repentance, and following the Sunnah, because Allah sees every deed and will hold everyone accountable.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Gratitude for Allah’s blessings and the special virtues and practices of Friday.
- Reciting Surah al-Kahf and reflecting on its warning against turning away from divine reminders.
- Living by the guidance of the Quran and the example of the Messenger despite social pressure.
- Applying faith through prayer, zakat, Sunnah, and honesty in business and work.
- Remembering death, the Hereafter, Allah’s delayed punishment, and the need for sincere repentance.
- Closing prayers, charitable appeals, community announcements, and supplications for oppressed communities.
In the khateeb's words
“yr unig beth sy'n gweithio i chi a fi, yr unig beth sy'n ein diogelu yn y byd hwn a'r nesaf”
“Pan fydd yn ymwneud â'n busnes ein hunain, pan fydd yn ymwneud â'n swyddi ein hunain, ein profesiynau ein hunain”
“"I'm going to do whatever He tells us to do." So if Allah is telling us to truly do it, would we ever miss it out?”
“Sincerely repent to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala" - "Sincerely change your lives”
For the dinner table
The khateeb reminded us to be grateful for Allah’s blessings and to honor Friday through preparation, prayer, and reciting Surah al-Kahf. He taught that Quranic reminders only benefit us when we act on them and follow the example of the Messenger. That includes guarding our prayers, paying zakat, following the Sunnah, and being honest when dealing with people. Allah sees what others miss, and every deed will matter in the Hereafter. We should therefore repent sincerely and make real changes while we have the opportunity.
- What is one Friday habit our family could practice together?
- How can we show honesty when nobody else is watching?
- What is one change we would like to make after asking Allah for guidance?
