For the dinner table

The khutbah reminds us that people often turn to Allah when they are frightened or in trouble, but that response should continue after the danger passes. Hard moments can wake us up, help us repent, and bring us closer to the Qur’an and the Prophet’s way. Easy moments can also be a test, so we should receive money, time, skills, and opportunities with gratitude instead of pride. We can show that gratitude by praying, remembering Allah, helping good causes, and encouraging others toward goodness. The real blessing is not simply having more in this world, but being close to Allah.

  3. What can we do when a difficult moment reminds us to return to Allah?
