Children can teach adults how to grow

Try this week
Set specific worship goals, such as increasing witr, extending prayer, or consistently praying sunnah prayers.
Set a Quran memorization or reading-fluency goal.
Build deeper family relationships by discussing feelings, not only daily information.
Own mistakes, repent, and keep rising instead of pretending to be perfect.
Forgive people who have wronged you without assuming the relationship must return to its former closeness.
Adapt parenting to children’s changing ages, responsibilities, and circumstances while preserving Islamic principles.
Smile at people, especially in the masjid, and share encouragement during difficult times.
Be more physically active and resist laziness for the sake of health and quality of life.
Model the qualities you want children to retain, because they are always watching.

For the dinner table

Today, the khateeb invited us to learn from children and the beautiful qualities Allah has placed in them. Their persistence can remind us to set meaningful goals in worship and family life instead of simply letting the days pass. He encouraged us to build relationships where feelings can be shared, admit our mistakes, and turn back to Allah through repentance. He explained that forgiveness frees our hearts from resentment without requiring us to approve wrongdoing or become close again. He also encouraged us to adapt as life changes, smile more, stay active, and nurture confidence in Allah. As we help children preserve these qualities, we should remember that they learn by watching how we live.

  1. What is something a younger child has taught you through their actions?
  2. What small goal could we encourage each other to work toward this week?
  3. How could we make it easier for everyone at home to share their feelings?
