Protect yourself from Shaitan daily

“We have to protect ourselves daily.”

The khateeb, at 25:19

In one sentence

Shaitan has no real power except his whisper, so Muslims must defend themselves daily, especially in summer, using the concrete spiritual tools Allah gave: isti'adhah, Ayat al-Kursi, the three Quls, Bismillah, Surah al-Baqarah, and wudu.

The khutbah in 8 steps

  1. Summer warning: temptation is everywhere and shaitan only invites, the responder is to blame
  2. Shaitan's plot is weak; he only has power over those who turn away from Allah
  3. Shaitan runs through us like blood and senses what stirs our anger and desire
  4. Phones and autoplaying videos as a modern trap pulling us toward the haram
  5. Daily weapons: seeking refuge, Ayat al-Kursi morning and night, and the three Quls three times
  6. Bismillah when entering the home and eating; Surah al-Baqarah chases shaitan from the house
  7. Maintain wudu, water puts out fire, and Allah's door of mercy stays open
  8. Closing duas for forgiveness and refuge from the whispers of the devil
Try this week
Recite Ayat al-Kursi every morning and before sleep
Recite the three Quls (al-Ikhlas, al-Falaq, an-Nas) three times each morning
Say 'A'udhu billahi min ash-shaitan' immediately when anger, rage, or temptation arises
Say Bismillah when entering the house and before eating, even mid-meal if forgotten
Recite or play Surah al-Baqarah in the home to drive shaitan out
Say the morning du'a 'Bismillahil-ladhi la yadurru...' three times
Try to remain in a state of wudu throughout the day
Avoid video links on WhatsApp, Facebook, and TikTok that trigger autoplay of unwanted content
Ask Allah for forgiveness no matter how much time was wasted

For the dinner table

The khutbah reminded us that shaitan can invite us toward wrong, but he cannot force us to choose it. We should be especially careful with distractions, anger, and tempting content on our phones, particularly during the long days of summer. The khateeb encouraged simple protections such as saying Bismillah, reciting Ayatul Kursi and the three Quls, reading Surat al-Baqarah, and staying in wudu when possible. At the same time, we should never lose hope: Allah’s door of mercy remains wide open, and we can always turn back and ask forgiveness. These small daily habits can help protect our hearts and homes.
