Seeking forgiveness cures the sickness of sin
“Istighfar is something that is easy upon the tongue.”
In one sentence
The khutbah argues that constant, sincere istighfar and tawbah cure the sickness of sin and bring forgiveness, blessings, and joy when one's deeds are judged.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Sin is a spiritual illness, and istighfar is its cure and a source of happiness on Judgment Day.
- Deeds are recorded by noble angels and presented in an opened scroll for each person to read.
- Frequent istighfar is easy, can erase sins, and reflects Allah's abundant forgiveness for those who repent and live righteously.
- The example of Nuh connects seeking forgiveness with rain, wealth, children, gardens, rivers, and sustenance.
- Istighfar is required not only from sinners but also from obedient believers, prophets, and the Companions.
- The khutbah concludes by encouraging regular istighfar after prayer, throughout the day, and for believing men and women.
