How to soften and purify the heart

“The heart becomes soft when you ask for forgiveness.”

The khateeb, at 21:42

Believers must actively purify and soften their hearts through remembrance, Quran, repentance, self-accountability, and service because the heart shapes deeds and determines one’s spiritual direction.

For the dinner table

The khutbah taught that our hearts shape our thoughts, choices, and final accountability before Allah. A hard heart may ignore good advice, treat sin as normal, delay repentance, or become distracted from prayer and Quran. The speaker urged us to soften our hearts through Quran, remembrance of Allah and death, sincere repentance, weekly self-accountability, and gatherings of remembrance. He also emphasized caring for orphans, feeding the poor, and responding to hurt with the patience of the Prophet. The goal is to meet Allah with a clean, sound heart rather than relying on wealth, children, or long plans.
