Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

The khutbah reminded us that Muharram and Ashura are sacred times for worship and reflection. Hardship, sin, and regret do not mean Allah’s mercy is closed; we should return to Him with honest repentance. Repentance also means repairing relationships and doing right by people we have hurt. Each person should identify a habit, relationship, or activity that pulls them from Allah and take sincere steps to leave it, trusting Allah to replace it with something better. At home, we can keep Allah as our first priority and make each new day an opportunity to draw closer to Him.

  1. What is one way we can make tomorrow an opportunity to get closer to Allah?
  2. How can we support someone trying to leave a harmful habit or relationship?
  3. What does sincere repentance look like in our family?
