For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that Allah values sincere effort and patience. The khateeb described three ways to practice patience: continuing to worship Allah, holding back from sin, and responding faithfully when hardship comes. He encouraged us to put care into worship, even when we feel tired, and to bring the dedication we give school or work to our relationship with Allah. Patience does not mean we never cry or feel sad; we can feel those emotions while choosing words and actions that please Allah. He reminded us of Allah’s generous reward and encouraged us to seek His help as we keep trying.
