Protect your faith when the world feels chaotic
“Our job is to have faith in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.”
In one sentence
In times of fitnah and turmoil, Muslims should preserve their faith by returning to the Qur'an, strengthening spirituality, limiting harmful distractions, and actively teaching faith to their families.
The khutbah in 5 steps
- Frames present chaos and suffering through examples from Baghdad in 1258 and the loss of Muslim Spain.
- Connects widespread killing, ignorance, alcohol, zina, and narrative manipulation to prophetic warnings about the signs of the Hour and the Dajjal.
- Urges listeners to read and study the Qur'an, trust Allah's wisdom, and refuse to lose faith amid Gaza and global suffering.
- Offers practical responses: hasten toward good deeds, pray tahajjud, make dua, stay connected to family, and reduce harmful social-media exposure.
- Calls on parents to discuss world events with children, teach them iman, read hadith together, and proactively strengthen their deen.
Try this week
Read and study the Qur'an regularly rather than leaving it on a shelf.
Wake up before Fajr for wudu, two raka' of qiyam or tahajjud, and dua.
Make dua for yourself, people in Gaza, and against oppression.
Delete or reduce social-media use when it harms faith or causes emotional and psychological distress.
Spend intentional time at home with family while maintaining work and school responsibilities.
Parents should ask children what they know, discuss difficult events, reaffirm their iman, and read a hadith together for five to ten minutes daily.
Quotes
In the khateeb's words
“The Quran is called the Quran, which comes the word qara'ah. Why? Because the Quran is a book that has to be read. Not once, but over and over again.”
“We don't question the wisdom of Allah. Our job is to have faith in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. No matter what”
“If you feel like that you're losing faith and you cannot digest everything that you see on social media, then delete the social media app.”
Talk about it at home
For the dinner table
The khutbah reminds us that confusing and painful times can test our faith. We should return to the Qur'an, trust Allah, pray sincerely, and do good deeds. We should also protect our hearts by stepping back from media that overwhelms or weakens us. Parents should talk honestly with children, teach them about Allah, and build faith together through daily conversations and hadith.
- What helps you feel close to Allah when the news feels frightening?
- What question would you ask a parent about difficult events in the world?
Keep listening
