For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah explored the dua of Prophet Yusuf, who preferred prison to disobeying Allah. The khateeb connected this choice to everyday moments when doing what is right means giving up some comfort, like getting up for Fajr or speaking up when friends gossip. He reminded us that great believers also felt fear, pain, and tiredness, yet still chose to obey Allah. Yusuf’s prayer teaches us to ask Allah for help and guidance, and to thank Him when He enables us to do good. Finally, the khateeb reminded us that what we learn should shape how we live, including being honest, respecting our parents, and treating neighbors well.
