“This is a world where you have to respect the process as much as you respect the outcome.”

For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that worldly power, comfort, and even our own lives are temporary. Because life will end, we should not despair when oppressive powers seem strong, and we should not become too comfortable when life is easy. The people we pray beside may become lasting companions through Allah’s mercy, so we should welcome them, remember them, and invest in friendships for Allah’s sake. A reminder only changes us when we listen with an attentive heart and act on what we hear. Allah created with wisdom and patience, and because He never sleeps or tires, we can turn to Him confidently in every dua.

  1. Who could you welcome or check on at the masjid this week?
  2. What is one good thing that takes time to build?
  3. When might you ask Allah for help, especially at night?
