For the dinner table

Our community is growing in Canada, and that visibility brings both opportunities and responsibilities. The khateeb urged us to face these challenges together instead of passively letting others define our place. A survey of about 260 teenagers highlighted identity confusion, harmful friendships, digital life, fear of an unwelcoming masjid, and drifting from Islam. Parents should respect the Canadian environment their children grew up in, give loving boundaries, guide friendships, and help them feel safe in the mosque. The message was to take these concerns seriously and work on practical solutions, one at a time.

  1. What parts of your identity feel easiest or hardest to balance?
  2. What makes a mosque feel welcoming to you?
  3. What is one challenge our family or community could address together?
