Trust Allah when life feels uncertain
“Allah knows everything and Allah has the ultimate wisdom and Allah will never let you down.”
Believers should trust Allah’s wisdom through uncertainty and hardship, responding with patience, tranquility, gratitude, and continued faith.
The khutbah in 5 steps
- Acknowledges suffering in Gaza, Sudan, Yemen, Kashmir, and other places while identifying anxiety and weakened trust in Allah.
- Explains that trusting Allah brings tranquility even when believers cannot see what will happen.
- Uses the Prophet Muhammad’s Hijrah and Musa’s confrontation with the sea as examples of trusting Allah without knowing the outcome.
- Argues that illness, lost opportunities, wealth, and status may conceal divine wisdom or protect a believer’s faith.
- Calls believers to patience, gratitude, trust, prayer, and concern for afflicted communities.
In the khateeb's words
“Allah will reward them for their patience so much so that they will be eligible for that high great value or a great level that Allah planned for them”
“Allah knows everything and Allah has the ultimate wisdom and Allah will never let you down and even if you have to go through certain difficulties certain trials it is for your own benefit”
For the dinner table
Today's khutbah reminded us to trust Allah even when we do not understand what is happening or what comes next. The khateeb described the Prophet Muhammad's trust during his escape from Mecca and Musa's trust when his people faced the sea with Pharaoh's army behind them. He also told a story about taking sweets away from his son to protect him, showing how something disappointing can hold a benefit we cannot yet see. He explained that trials can become occasions for patience and reward, and that a missed opportunity may protect us from harm. He encouraged us to meet life's difficulties with trust, patience, and thankfulness to Allah.
- What stands out to you about Musa trusting Allah before he knew how he would escape?
- When have you understood a parent's protective decision better afterward?
- What could our family do to support someone going through a hard time?
