Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah taught that faith stays alive when we actively renew it by affirming Allah’s oneness and leaving what He has forbidden. We were encouraged to read the Quran every day, ask Allah for forgiveness, and cleanse our hearts of envy, greed, anger, and resentment. Ramadan and the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah can help us build habits that continue throughout the year. Worship also includes everyday kindness, patience, forgiveness, and choosing Allah’s command over our desires. Like Ibrahim, we can grow closer to Allah by sacrificing the inner habits that pull us away from Him.

  1. What small habit could help you remember Allah every day?
  2. Which heart habit would you most like to work on, and how?
  3. How can kindness or patience become worship in our home?
