Use your youth for faith and service
“Do not follow the steps of shaytan.”
Young believers should combine sincere faith, physical strength, self-control, and purposeful use of time to serve Allah and succeed in this life and the next.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Uses the story of the youths in the cave to establish belief in Allah as the foundation.
- Explains that faith increases through Quran and decreases through major sins.
- Calls young people to combine physical strength, health, and firm faith.
- Presents youth as a time of energy, developing wisdom, and self-control.
- Warns against gradual steps into smoking, drugs, alcohol, and other harmful desires.
- Urges listeners to use their youth, health, time, wealth, and daily routines for worship, learning, and service.
In the khateeb's words
“Do not follow the steps of shaytan Because it's gonna start This is the beginning It's started with one cigarette Then became with weed Then became with full drugs”
“If you don't make yourself busy With the truth And with the good thing Your soul And your heart Will get you busy With the bad thing”
For the dinner table
The khutbah highlighted the young believers who trusted Allah, and whose faith and guidance increased after they believed. It reminded us that young people need both strong bodies and strong faith, because energy is most valuable when guided by wisdom. Allah created us with desires, so controlling them for His sake is a great act of worship. The khateeb warned that harmful choices can grow step by step, so we should avoid the first step and ask Allah for strength. He also encouraged us to use our health, time, youth, and opportunities for good before they pass.
- What is one good thing you would like to use your time and energy for this week?
- What helps you make a wise choice when you feel pressured to try something harmful?
- How can our family help one another grow closer to Allah?
