For the dinner table
Today's khutbah taught us that visiting someone who is sick is a real right and a beautiful act of worship. The speaker said a visitor receives the prayers of many angels, and should make a healing du'a, offer hope, and avoid burdening the patient. He also reminded us that we may visit sick non-Muslim neighbors, and that kindness can open hearts to Islam. Illness can be a test through which Allah forgives sins, so we should respond with compassion and make visiting the sick part of our community life.
- Who could we visit or check on this week, and what kindness could we bring them?
- What words might give hope to someone who is sick?
- How can visiting a neighbor show good character?
