Repentance & taqwaFrom the masjid's own video, Sep 18, 2026.

Repent before your deeds are closed

“It is not too late for us.”

The khateeb, at 19:29

In one sentence

The khutbah warns that Shaytan's ancient deception leads people toward Hell, but repentance, remembrance, righteous company, and obedience to Allah provide protection.

The khutbah in 5 steps

  1. Introduces the ancient conflict between humanity and Iblis, beginning with Adam and Iblis's arrogance.
  2. Explains Shaytan's speech in Surah Ibrahim, where he admits Allah's promise was true, blames humans, and abandons them.
  3. Urges listeners to treat the warning as imminent and repent while their deeds remain open.
  4. Presents protections against Shaytan: seeking refuge in Allah, dhikr, duas, Ayat al-Kursi, righteous friends, and Fajr in congregation.
  5. Closes by contrasting Shaytan's call through desires with Allah's call to forgiveness and Jannah.

For the dinner table

The khateeb described our struggle with Shaytan as a conflict that began with Iblis’s arrogance and refusal to obey Allah. Drawing on Surah Ibrahim, he warned that Shaytan will betray and abandon those who follow him, and urged us to take responsibility for our choices. He also reminded us that while we are alive, our book of deeds remains open and we can turn back to Allah in repentance. He encouraged us to seek Allah’s protection when tempted, remember Him through dhikr and dua, choose good friends, and pray Fajr in congregation. As a family, we can help one another put these reminders into practice, remembering that Allah wants to forgive us and that we should keep trying our best.

  1. What is one reminder from today that you would like our family to practice together?
  2. How can you be a friend who helps someone make a good choice?
  3. When could we pause during our day to remember Allah together?
