Repentance & taqwaFrom the masjid's own video, Oct 2, 2026.

Cleanse your heart before sleep

“Before going to sleep, take two or three minutes, review your day and judge yourself.”

The khateeb, at 15:48

In one sentence

Because the heart is unstable and easily darkened by repeated sins, believers must protect and cleanse it through nightly repentance, guarding what they see and hear, and asking Allah for steadfastness.

For the dinner table

The khutbah reminded us that Allah cares less about our outward appearance or possessions than the condition of our hearts and our deeds. Our hearts can change quickly, and repeated sins can make us stop feeling the pain of doing wrong. Even prophets asked Allah to protect and steady their hearts, so we should never assume our faith is automatically safe. We can begin tonight by reviewing our day, sincerely repenting, protecting what we watch and hear, and asking Allah to keep us firm. These small, regular habits help us return to Allah with a sound heart.

  1. What is one thing that helps your heart feel close to Allah?
  2. What is one screen habit or sound you could change to protect your heart?
  3. What would you ask Allah to help you stay firm in this week?
