The khutbah taught that a real Muslim makes others safe from his words and actions, and a real believer protects their lives and property. It described hijrah as leaving what Allah forbids and true struggle as resisting the evil within ourselves. This struggle includes visible desires as well as hidden pride, anger, and the wish to retaliate. We should keep returning to Allah after mistakes while caring for our families, neighbors, parents, and community. The message was hopeful: victory begins with honesty about our weaknesses and refusing to give up.

  1. What is one way our words or hands can hurt someone, and how can we choose safety instead?
  2. What desire or habit would you like Allah to help you resist this week?
  3. How can our family balance caring for ourselves with serving others?
