The khateeb, at 18:31

For the dinner table

Jumu'ah is a special weekly chance to stop our ordinary work and remember Allah. The khutbah reminded us to prepare by bathing, wearing clean clothes, using fragrance, arriving early, and treating other people considerately. During the khutbah, we should be quiet, listen, and avoid phones or side conversations so we do not lose its blessing. Friday is also a day to make du'a, send blessings on the Prophet, and remember that this life is short and the Hereafter matters. The goal is to give Jumu'ah our full attention instead of rushing in for only a few minutes.

  1. What would help you arrive early and be ready for Jumu'ah next Friday?
  2. Why do you think listening quietly during the khutbah is part of honoring Jumu'ah?
  3. Which Friday practice from the khutbah would you like our family to try together?
