Practice dhikr at every available opportunity, including during quiet moments, work, or study.
Pair dhikr with reflection so it reaches the mind and heart rather than remaining mechanical.

For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah connected concern for suffering Muslims around the world with the work we need to do within ourselves. The khateeb warned that forgetting Allah’s blessings can lead to entitlement and inactivity, and he encouraged us to struggle against those habits. He explained that remembering Allah, called dhikr, brings peace and helps us treasure our connection with Him. He urged us to remember Allah in small moments throughout the day and to think about the meaning of what we say so it can guide our actions. He ended by encouraging the prayer of Yunus, which declares Allah’s oneness and perfection and admits our own wrongdoing.

  1. What blessing did you notice today, and how could you show gratitude for it?
  2. When could you take a quiet moment tomorrow to remember Allah?
  3. How could remembering Allah help you treat someone more kindly this week?
