For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah taught us that tawakkul means trusting Allah after doing the work He has given us. We should plan carefully, seek advice, study or work hard, and then leave the outcome to Allah. When life brings ease, we thank Him; when it brings hardship or disappointment, we respond with patience and say Alhamdulillah, trusting that He knows what we do not. The stories of the Prophet’s Hijrah, Musa and Khidr, and Ayyub remind us that faith is tested when we cannot see the whole picture. This week, we can read Surah al-Kahf, notice what Allah has given us, and turn complaints into gratitude.

  1. What is one goal we can plan for carefully and then entrust to Allah?
  2. When something disappointing happens, what can we still thank Allah for?
  3. What is one blessing we sometimes overlook?
