For the dinner table

Ramadan may have ended, but our worship does not end with the month; we keep turning to Allah throughout life. The khateeb encouraged fasting six days of Shawwal, after making up missed Ramadan fasts when needed, because this voluntary fast carries great reward and continues the habit of worship. These six days can be taken anytime in Shawwal and are not obligatory, so families should encourage rather than pressure one another. Continuing prayer, Quran, masjid connection, and other good deeds after Ramadan can be a sign that Allah accepted what came before. We can treat these acts as gratitude for being able to complete Ramadan and ask Allah to help us remain consistent.
