Barakah grows through faith and gratitude
In one sentence
Barakah is divine goodness and increase, not merely wealth or longevity, and it grows through faith, taqwa, gratitude, repentance, and using blessings for Allah’s sake.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Introduces barakah through Qur’anic examples of Dawud, Sulayman, and the people of Saba.
- Defines barakah as divine goodness and increase, not wealth, possessions, or longevity.
- Explains that faith and taqwa bring blessing, while disbelief and ingratitude cause it to be withdrawn.
- Applies the idea to communal suffering, arguing that collective prayer, protest, charity, and effort can carry barakah.
- Explains iman and taqwa through action, Qur’an and Sunnah, contentment, and preparation for the Hereafter.
- Recommends supplication, tawbah, istighfar, gratitude, and spending for Allah’s sake before closing with prayer.

Ask Allah explicitly for barakah in your city, provisions, relationships, health, time, and work.

Show iman through salah, righteous deeds, speech, and conduct.
Practice taqwa by following the Qur’an and Sunnah, being content with what Allah gives, and preparing for the Hereafter.
Thank Allah for ordinary blessings such as home, food, family, and friends.
Spend for Allah’s sake so your resources benefit others.
Quotes
In the khateeb's words
“İmanınızın işlerinizde gösterilmesi gerekiyor. Sözlerinizin ve elinizin gösterilmesi gerekiyor. Bu imanınızın bir davranışıdır.”
“Allah'a baraka verin. Ne istiyorsanız, ne istiyorsanız Allah'a baraka verin.”
“Eviniz var, yemekleriniz var, eviniz var, güzel bir aileiniz var, güzel bir arkadaşınız var, herkesi koruyor. Bu çok baraka. Allah'a şükür. Bu yüzden büyüyecek.”
Talk about it at home
For the dinner table
Barakah is not simply having lots of money, a large house, or a long life. It is Allah’s goodness and increase in what we have, so even something small can go far and benefit people. The khutbah says barakah grows through faith shown in deeds, taqwa, gratitude, repentance, and asking Allah for blessing. We should notice ordinary gifts like food, family, friends, health, and time, then use them for good. When Muslims act together with sincere prayer and helpful effort, personal blessings can become a source of strength for the wider ummah.
- What is one small blessing in our home that we should thank Allah for today?
- How can we turn one of our blessings into help for someone else?
- What is one step of tawbah or better action we can practice this week?
