Plant good seeds without chasing results
“He judges on the seeds you plant.”
Sincere, loving efforts to guide and serve others are never failures because Allah can forgive and honor even one day of genuine action, while its true fruits may appear only in eternity.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- The pilgrimage season invites believers to know Allah’s mercy personally amid life’s struggles.
- In Surah Yasin, an unnamed man from the city’s outskirts hears the messengers and runs urgently to guide his people.
- He speaks gently and humbly, but is rejected, beaten, and killed despite apparently producing no visible results.
- Allah welcomes him into Paradise, where he wishes his people knew how completely Allah forgave and honored him.
- Every small sincere deed is seen by Allah; believers must plant good seeds without demanding immediate results.
- Listeners are urged to strive with love, patience, gentleness, and service toward family, friends, community, and those suffering in the world.
In the khateeb's words
“He was guided To that beautiful message It touched him The voice of the truth About Allah Landed in his heart And in that moment When it locked He couldn't sit still”
“No matter how much we know About Allah's forgiveness It's vaster than you think It's incomprehensible That it touched this man And he's so shocked by it”
“Allah doesn't judge on results or on the trees He judges on the seeds you plant”
For the dinner table
Today’s khutbah centered on the unnamed man in Surah Yasin who ran from the city’s outskirts to invite his people toward Allah. They rejected and killed him, so his work looked like a failure, but Allah welcomed him into Paradise, forgave him, and honored him. His first concern was still that his people should know Allah’s mercy, showing that sincere love can outlast rejection. We were reminded that Allah sees every small good deed and that our responsibility is to plant good seeds, not control the results. This week, we can speak gently, help others, and keep serving our families and communities with patience and sincerity.
- What is one good seed you can plant this week even if nobody notices?
- How can we encourage someone without making them feel judged?
