True faith must shape how we live
“When you are with Allah, you will never lose.”
True faith must be rooted in the heart and expressed through righteous action, prayer, remembrance, and good companionship so believers can overcome heedlessness and live a genuinely peaceful life.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Distinguishes outward religious appearance from iman expressed through deeds and moral character
- Warns that heedlessness and forgetting Allah disconnect believers from themselves, one another, and the ummah
- Reflects on death, Gaza, and other suffering while urging believers to purify their hearts and become strong enough to help others
- Presents righteous deeds and God-consciousness as pathways to a genuine, peaceful life, with hope after failure
- Advises re-establishing salah, daily dhikr, productive gatherings, and careful companionship
- Concludes with prayer, remembrance, righteous companionship, supplications for unity and relief, and Quran recitation
In the khateeb's words
“what labels you as a true muslim is that so you have iman in your heart but you have to follow that with what with deeds righteous deeds”
“i am a muslim inside of the masjid and outside of the masjid i am a muslim in the morning in the afternoon in the evening”
“when you are with Allah you will never lose you will never lose”
“you and i were still above the ground so we still have that time to re-establish to reconnect with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala”
For the dinner table
The speaker teaches that Islam is not only about outward appearance; true faith must show itself in good deeds and character. He warns that heedlessness can make us forget Allah, ourselves, and our connection to other people, while reminding us that death is certain. At the same time, the khutbah emphasizes hope: returning to Allah, doing righteous deeds, and trusting divine wisdom can lead to a genuine and peaceful life. The speaker recommends prayer, dhikr, productive gatherings, and righteous companionship, while encouraging concern for people suffering around the world. He closes by asking Allah to purify hearts, unite the ummah, guide families, and help those in need.
- Who helps you become a better person, and how?
- How can our family help someone who is struggling?
