Today we heard that hadith means the Prophet Muhammad’s teachings, actions, approvals, and example. The Quran gives us Allah’s guidance, and hadith helps explain how to live it, including how to pray and perform other acts of worship. We should not accept every saying automatically; when we hear a hadith, we should check its authenticity with a trusted imam. Even if we cannot practice an authentic teaching right away, we can keep the intention to follow it when we are able.

  1. What is one part of prayer you learned from the Prophet’s example?
  2. Why do you think checking a hadith’s authenticity matters?
  3. What good teaching would you like to practice when you have the means?
