For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah taught that a healthy Muslim heart needs love for Allah, fear of His punishment, and hope in His mercy. Fear should not mean despair, while hope should not become a feeling that punishment does not apply to us. The companions were presented as examples because they had strong hope yet remained deeply careful about disobedience. The speaker urged us to let these beliefs change our behavior, not remain abstract words. We can revive our hearts by remembering both Allah’s warnings and promises and turning to Him with fear and hope.

  1. What could show that someone truly hopes for Jannah?
  2. How can fear of Allah help us make better choices?
  3. Why did the speaker compare the heart to a bird?
