Repentance & taqwaFrom the masjid's own video, Oct 24, 2026.
Keep returning to Allah after every mistake
“If you have messed up 10 times, come back to Allah 10 times.”
The khutbah in 5 steps
- Make dua with certainty and gradually build a routine of nighttime prayer.
- Keep Jannah and the akhirah as the ultimate goals while pursuing work, education, money, and family life.
- Spend moderately, avoiding both wastefulness and stinginess, especially toward one's family.
- Practice sincere tawbah by recognizing sin, trusting Allah's mercy, and following repentance with righteous deeds.
- Continue returning to Allah after repeated mistakes and resist Shaytan's attempt to create despair.
Try this week
Make dua with certainty, especially during the night.
If waking before Fajr is difficult, begin after Isha with two, four, or six extra rakats and gradually build the routine.
Keep school, work, career, and family decisions Allah-centric and protect your iman.
Spend moderately, avoiding wastefulness and stinginess, and spend generously on your family.
After sinning, acknowledge the mistake, make wudu, pray, give charity, perform righteous deeds, and repeat sincere tawbah after relapse.
Quotes
In the khateeb's words
“So make time, my respected brothers and sisters, and get up in the middle of the night.”
“But it has to be Allah-centric. You have to let them understand that regardless of whatever you have going on in this dunya, you cannot lose your iman.”
“If you have messed up 10 times, come back to Allah 10 times. As a matter of fact, that is the sincere tawbah.”
Talk about it at home
For the dinner table
Allah wants us to remember that the biggest success is not money or status but reaching Jannah with sincere faith. We can still study, work, build careers, and care for our families, but our choices should remain centered on Allah and the akhirah. We should spend with balance, neither wastefully nor selfishly, and care for our families generously. When we fall into sin, we should not give up: recognize the mistake, trust Allah's mercy, do a good deed, and return to Him again and again.
- How can we keep an important goal Allah-centric?
- What helps someone return to Allah after making a mistake?
