For the dinner table

The khutbah used the image of two gardens to describe two gifts from Allah: the natural world, which invites science and discovery, and revelation, which guides and elevates us. It connected Adam’s knowledge of the names of things with the human ability to observe, understand, and apply knowledge. It also warned us not to treat human discoveries or religious claims as independent from Allah, or to alter revelation to suit ourselves. The practical call was to unite, hold to God’s word, and live it honestly. We can thank Allah for knowledge, seek guidance, and use both gifts responsibly.

  1. What is one part of creation you would like to study more, and what could it teach you about Allah?
  2. How can we live our values honestly when it would be easier to change them?
  3. What could unity look like in our family this week?
