For the dinner table

Difficult seasons and comfortable seasons can both test our faith. The khutbah teaches us to thank Allah for blessings while staying connected to Him, and to feel the joys and pains of other believers as if they were our own. When prayers seem unanswered, we should not give up or become impatient; we should keep asking Allah with hope, as Yaqub did after years of loss. We can bring our complaints to Allah without complaining about Allah’s wisdom or decree. This week, we can repent from sin, stay close to the masjid, make dua, and give food, clothing, or other help within our ability.

  1. How can comfort and success test our faith?
  2. What is one way we can help someone who is suffering?
  3. What can we do when we feel our prayers are taking a long time to be answered?
