Hope and fear should lead to action

“The fear of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala points us and directs us and guides us towards Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.”

The khateeb, at 9:05

For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that hope and fear should both help us grow closer to Allah. Real hope includes effort, like a farmer who plants and waters before hoping for a harvest. Fear should help us leave harmful choices behind without becoming so overwhelming that we feel unable to move forward. The imam encouraged us to make room for prayer, Quran, charity, and asking forgiveness instead of letting distractions take over. He also reminded us to act sincerely for Allah, recognize His blessings, and turn to Him regularly in everyday life.

  1. What small good deed could we do together this week to put our hope in Allah into action?
  2. What distraction takes up your time, and what could help you make room for something better?
  3. What blessing can you thank Allah for today?
